From a scientific perspective, poor sleep can affect the central nervous system, immune system, respiratory and digestive systems, cardiovascular and endocrine system. We need sleep to maintain good health and general well-being.

Poor sleep impairs our memory. It affects our mood and ability to concentrate and learn new things. When our immune system is down we tend to catch one cold or virus after another.

There is a growing body of research showing that infants, toddlers, and teenagers are all effected the same, or in some cases worse, than adults with poor sleep. Lack of sleep can cause irritability, increased stress, forgetfulness, difficulties with learning and low motivation. Over time, it can contribute to anxiety and depression.

INFLUENCERS ON SLEEP

We know that there are many influencers on sleep. Things such as the childs temperament, rituals, routine, age, nutrition, development, and even parental mood can all impact a child’s sleep.

Some children find sleeping easy, while others really struggle to get to sleep or stay asleep. It is not a predictor of good or bad parenting. Just like learning to swim or riding a bike, sometimes children need support to get it moving in the right direction. Parents may need information and support to support their child.

OUR TEAM CAN HELP

Our team has helped thousands of families improve their Childrens sleep habits. Families repeatedly tell us that the Childs improved sleep translates into more quality time together. The children are more co-operative and parents are less stressed.

We use gentle but effective techniques to improve sleep. We cherish the special bond between you and your child, and we work with an attachment and infant mental health model of care. This means you and your baby will not be separated or made to cry it out.

Our sleep service is an in-home service. We come to you at a time that works for you. We encourage a time would when both you and any supports that you have are available together. This way everyone is on the same page when making changes. However, if that isn’t possible, don’t worry as we will write things down and email out a plan so that everyone has the same information.

Creating a plan together.

Together we create a plan that is individualized for your family. It is common for parents when struggling with sleep to talk with lots of people about sleep. And it seems that everyone has their own opinion. This can feel overwhelming and confusing. But this is because what works for one family may not work for another, so we look at your needs. We make a plan that addresses your child and family’s needs. We then follow up with an email and text support for two weeks while you settle into the routine and iron out difficulties.

Most families need one visit. However, others will need a couple of short follow up visits where we stand with you and physically help you put your child to sleep using the techniques. This is your choice.

We believe in supporting and teaching you how to respond to your child. We could “fix” the sleep issues you’re having, but there will be more developmental stages ahead that need to be navigated through. So instead we teach and support you, so you can support your child to get to sleep today and in the future.
